Week 5 Day 3 and 4

So The last few days have been kind of blah days. I was able to get a lot of "fun" things to eat that are healthy. most of it is veggies and such but I did get a new type of bread that I LOVE! I am finding my "want" again to keep on going. I have been continued to eating healthy and work out almost everyday. I am writing this in hopes to get a little energy in me that way when hubby gets home it will be easier to go work out instead of hanging out at home with him. Although I love to hang at home with him I need to get to the Y. I need some suggestions on music to download. No I don't have my Ipod yet but I am hoping to get it soon (maybe by next friday). So I need ideas of what type of music to put on it...I need good songs to work out to. Any Suggestions?

Ok sorry for the short blog tonight and the lack of blogs lately I will try to blog tomorrow night about tomorrow. Have a good night everyone!

Week 5 -- Day 1 and 2

So I realized late last night that I forgot to blog for Saturday so I am attaching it on to Sundays. Yesterday Was the 4th of July and we did absolutely nothing! It was nice. we had a quiet family day around the house and grilled some BBQ Chicken last night. The last few days I have done good with my calories. Saturday was a little high about 1300 calories and Sunday was a little low about 900 calories. I was able to make it to the Y on Saturday but not on Sunday. I will be going today for sure though. Today is my first day off Phentermine so I am a little curious to see how I do. I know I will have the chance to go back on it on the 13th. But in all honesty I am not to sure I want to go back on phentermine. Towards the end of being on the pill it seemed like it was not working like it use too. So we will see if it was working these next few days as I am off of it or if my body was use to it. Depending on that may depend on what the Dr recommends on the 13th.

One thing I have noticed with my diet and everything is its losing its shine. You know when you buy something brand new and you are so excited about it but over time it is just a part of your life, Like a car. When you buy a brand new car it is so shiny and pretty no dings or scuffs. But as time goes buy it loses a little bit of its shine and the car itself is just not as new and exciting to you. Sometimes giving it a good buff job will help bring that shine back into a car allowing you to get some of that excitement back. Well, I need a good buff job, lol. I am at a point that I do feel I struggle more now to eat right and work out. I have lost most the feeling I had 1 week ago when it was a want to go work out and be healthy. I know this is part of a stage and I can push through it. But I tell you, this is difficult! I am just going to keep on trying and push through this, I will keep you updated :-).

Ok I am off for now. You all have a wonderful day!

Week 4 -- Day 7

So It just dawned on me I never blogged about yesterday! So I am going to make this short cause I want to tell you about it but I need to get ready to go work out before the y closes.

Yesterday was a fairly good day on my food. I was a little under on my calories but not to bad but however I did not make it to the Y to work out. Last night I spent most my night working on our menu and making our grocery list. How ever I still ended up spending a lot of money at the store I should not have. I get real torn on the groceries and what I should do as a mother and a wife. This week we really had no extra money for groceries because the first of the month bills are always very high. However we also did not have a lot of food in the house and for the last few days we had to get creative with what we had. As a mom my priority is my family and my girls, making sure they have food on the table everyday is important to me. I prefer to make sure my kids eat a balance meal daily also because I do not want them to turn out like there mother (over weight). The wife in me who does our families budget knows we are behind on some bills and new it was going to be tight for a while in order to get caught up. That part of me feels bad for how much I spent at the store but the other part gets happy when I can open my fridge and grab a fresh veggie or fruit and be able to make a good dinner for our family to eat. it is a good feeling knowing that there is food in the fridge and it is not all junk. It is not such a good feeling trying to figure out how to pay some bills...Uhg.

Anyways that is about it from yesterday. I will blog more tonight when for today. Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Week 4 -- Day 6

So yesterday I did horrible on my food intake. I ate hardly anything. my total calorie intake was less then 700 calories. I had missed breakfast and ate a low calorie lunch along with my dinner. I had no idea my calorie intake was so low till it was to late in the evening. So today I am going to try to do better on my calories. I was able to make it to the Y last night. Although I really had to push myself to go. It was really hard to find the motivation to go. After I got the I decided since I was there I was going to give it my all. I hopped on to the elliptical and i normally have it set at a 10 incline and a 1 resistance. Well I was noticing it didn't feel like I was giving it my all, so I decided to up the resistance to 5 and even though at the moment it didn't feel much different I do however feel it today. Not only did I change those things but i also forced my self to go faster then I normally do. When I was done with the elliptical i hopped on the TM and did a 20 min walk on it. I am happy about my work out last night.

So the plus side of me blogging in the morning about the day before is I weighed in this morning and you all would normally have to wait till tonight to find out the results. But now you don't :-). I am happy to announce I lost 2.8 lbs still keeping me on track for my overall goals.

Ok that is about it. You all have a wonderful day!

The Scales say What!

So this post is because I was reading Ali's blog yesterday and she told the story of when she first became aware of her weight and what made her become aware of her weight. She asked everyone to share there stories so here I am going to share mine.

I have 2 times in my life that it was put in my face I was not the skinniest. The first time was middle school and i was in the 7th grade. I have always been a little over weight but nothing like I am today. My mom had just bought me a new pair of black jeans that she had found for fairly inexpensive. When she gave them to me i noticed the size on them were a size 5! At the time I was about a size 10-12. I never thought I could fit into them nut after I tried them on I was surprise to see that they fit! I proudly wore them to school in excitement that they were such a small size. A group of us were walking in from out doors and there was a teacher in the group with us. Some how we got on the conversation of pant sizes and i proudly announced that i was wearing a size 5! The teacher looked over at me and without hesitation said that those are probably labeled wrong cause there was no way those were a size 5! I quickly started to doubt myself and wonder why it was noticeable that these were not a size 5! Yes they probably were labeled incorrectly but for a day till that moment I felt good about myself!

The other thing I remembered was in 11th grade. We had just moved to Pagosa Springs, CO and I was trying so hard to fit in. I automatically fit in with the band people but I longed to be "popular". I had never been popular and actually was mad fun most of my life. Up till high school I had issues with my speech and I my ability to say my "R's". Well my name being Jennifer made it difficult to say so I shortened it to Jenni or Jen. But back to the subject I was trying so hard to fit in and be popular I tried out for cheer leading and made it! How exciting was that! When we lived in KS my best friend was a cheerleader and I always wanted to be one also but never made the team there. The team had already ordered there new uniforms but we (me and another girl who joined late) were able to use some older uniforms. There were 2 choices to chose from. One was my size and the other one was a little a lot bigger then the first one. Well the other girl who joined late with me was about the same size as me but maybe at the time a little bigger. Well our coach being the person she was gave the smaller one to the other girl and I got the bigger uniform. When I questioned her she basically said I was bigger and that the one she gave me would fit just fine. Well it didn't! It was to big and the skirt was way to long. My mom being the wonderful woman she is altered my skirt in length and a little bit in size that way I did not feel like such an out cast. I remember my dad coming up to the school and confronting my coach about the whole thing (that is my dad, very protective of his family and will do anything for us).  This whole thing has always been stuck in my head. The words of me being bigger and at that then being the biggest on the team hurt way more then I could ever imagine. Even though my parents were amazing and did all the things they did for me I don't know if they ever knew how much I started to doubt my self and my weight at that point in my life. From that moment on it seemed like I always struggled and never really was happy about my weight.

So there you have it, my 2 stories that made me realize my weight and how hurtful things can be in life and stick with you for longer then you ever thought.

Week 4 -- Day 5

Yesterday was a GREAT day! Mid Afternoon I got online to look up the time our movie started and found out they changed what was showing on each scree. Before Toy Story 3 was paired with Eclipse and Grown Ups and Karate Kid was paired on the other Screen. Our point of going to see a movie was to see Toy Story 3 as a family even though we had NO desire to watch Eclipse. Well when I got online yesterday I was happy to see that they changed it where Eclipse was paired with another movie and we had Toy Story 3 and Grown Ups. 2 movies Matt and I were wanting to see! So we watched both movies and the girls were great! They did not act up to much (not more then a typical 4 & 3 year old would). However, I did manage to eat a whole bag of popcorn all by myself..ewwwww. Luckily it was 94% fat free, but still not healthy.

I met with My Dietitian this morning to get some tips on how to eat healthier and how to do it cheap. She was real encouraging, she told me that I am on the right track with my 1200 calories. She also said she understands that me eating 900 calories someday is not going to hurt me and she understood how it happens. Phentermine makes it where I don't want to eat and makes it hard to fill my calories some days. No this is not an excuse to eat only 900 calories but a way for me not to beat my self up for only eating 900 calories when it does happen. She explained more of the sodium intake and what to look for in foods. I am Very excited about all the knowledge I have gained today and am looking forward to applying every thing immediately. The only thing she said to me that I did not care for was that I needed to be active/working out everyday for a min of 60 minutes. But she said the days I am not at the Y (5 days a week I go to the Y) I needed to make sure I am more active those days. So I have a few new goals. Making sure I hit the 60 min a day and following her suggestions on food and eating! I will be starting everything today but not to sure how successful I will be on the food till I am able to go grocery shopping.

Ok so on to yesterdays food. it could have been worst then what it was considering I ate a whole bag of popcorn. I had 1274 in calories. I did not work out yesterday so I will make sure I will get to the Y today.

Ok Everyone you have a great day!

Week 4 -- Day 4

So I am Late blogging. Last night I was not wanting to be on the computer to much so I decided I would just blog this morning about yesterday. Honestly not a lot happened. I was able to enjoy the beautiful weather we had yesterday and the girls and I went to Watson park for a little while. Before we left I had the normal conversation with the girls, you know...No talking to strangers, no taking anything from stranger's, so on and so on. I made them both repeat it back to me and then we left for the park. When we got there the first thing Emma does is look at a lady that is there playing with her kids and asks for her help up on to the platform for the slides. After realizing what she did I called her over to me to remind her not to talk to strangers and she keeps pointing at the lady saying Mandi helped her up. (Mandi is their Aunt; My sister in-law, who runs a daycare and watched the girls when I worked). I explained to Emma that was not Mandi and not to talk to strangers again and if she needed something to come ask me (Now granted that lady was probably fine but I am a little protective of my kids....to many horror stories about kids being snatched). The girls started to play in the sand and while they were doing this a little boy and his dad showed up. Every time the little boy came up to play with Abby she would just look at me to make sure it was ok to talk to the little boy, I reassured her it was ok to play with the little boy. A few min later the dad is trying to get his son to go with him to bathroom and he wasn't wanting to go. The dad looked over to me and asked "can you watch him a second while I run to the bathroom." I of course had no problem helping him out, but personally I would not trust my kids with some stranger so I could go run to the bathroom. My kids would have went with me, I don't care if they wanted to play or not. Anyways that was my excitement for the day. Going to the park on such a beautiful day!

Tonight we plan on going to the drive in to watch Toy story with the girls. No it won't be in 3-D but this way is less then 1/2 the price. We priced the movies last night for today and if we go to the Warren it is $10 a person for 3-D at a matinee and you have to pay full price for the kids. So we would pay $40 for us to go watch Toy story in 3-D. The 2-D pricing is $7 per person (matinee again) so it would have been $28. The only other option was the drive in and it is only $8 for adults and the kids are free! Plus by going to the drive in we are able to take our own snacks and I don't have to worry about unhealthy foods. Matt and I are really looking forward to being able to spend time together as a family at the movies.

So After talking to Matt a little more about what we want to do when I hit my goal. We have decided to go on a Disney Cruise that way the girls can come with us. I really do not want to go on another Vacation and leave my girls behind. Matt does not think taking them to Hawaii is a good idea and he said if I want to go to Hawaii we would not take them. Well like I said, I want my girls to come and oppose to arguing about something that should be a good thing we decided to find something that is kid friendly. All morning I have been researching the Disney cruises for the time frame we would want to go. I really like the Caribbean cruise but it is only offered as a 7 night cruise but all the stops and the places it goes looks amazing! But the price is $3500 for a inside room and $4200 for an ocean view. The pricing is for all 4 of us and includes
  • shipboard accommodations
  • dining
  • entertainment
  • Character experiences and select on board activities
However I Do think 7 nights is a little long for our first cruise. The down side is the Caribbean cruise is only offered in the 7night cruise. BUT if you can't do the Caribbean why not do the Bahamas! I found a 3night for $1650 for an inside room or $1850 for an ocean view and includes everything above!  I am thinking this will be the one we will do. The only down side is picking a date that is the cheapest and not booked up already. Also Finding the money to hold our reservation because they are booking up already. So we will see if this nice dream can be turned into a reality.

Ok...So to my Food in take. I have decided not to list out my foods every day. I will however Talk about my food intake. Yesterday I had a total of 1128 in calories. I ate fairly healthy but I am struggling with my sodium intake and keeping it low. I have a feeling that this week weigh in will not be a huge difference because I am taking in so much sodium this week and retaining more water. The next few day I am going to try not to have hardly any sodium and see if it will help with this weeks weigh in. I am trying to remember I am building muscle and not get to discourage if I don't lose a lot of weight. I can feel my legs getting firmer and Matt even said yesterday My butt was feeling nice an firm (Thanks to the Elliptical).

My Work out yesterday consisted of 20 min on the Elliptical and going for 1.3 miles. I burned 185 calories. I feel like today I may be able to go longer on the elliptical or up the level on the resistance. When I got off yesterday I did not have "Jell-o legs" like I have had before. That tells me I need to change something to push myself more. I also Haven't been doing the TM the last few days and I want to start back onto that. So my goal the next few days is to up my workouts.

OK well that's it for now, I will probably blog tomorrow morning about today since we are going to the Drive in tonight and will be out late. You all have a WONDERFUL Day!
